Modern WordPress posts have long since departed from the definition of a simple post and evolved into a full-featured page management system. Whether it's a visual editor plugin like Elementor or WordPress' built-in Gutenberg editor, you can achieve rich page effects and functionality in your WordPress posts or pages.
If it is a multi-language site, adding a page created by the visual editor to another language and then creating a new page according to the settings of the original language will undoubtedly bring a lot of duplicated functions.Polylang Pro There is a batch translation feature that allows us to quickly batch copy or synchronize articles or pages to other languages, as shown in the following figure:
❶The "Copy original text to selected language" option allows batch translation of articles into other languages and it copies all article content such as title, content (text, media, gallery) and abstract into the selected language.
❷The "Synchronize original text with selected language" option allows batch synchronization of original texts into other languages. This means that the newly translated content will be synchronized with the original content. As explained in the Synchronize articles documentation, both the translation and the original article will be activated in the "Languages" meta tabIcons.
The tool works with articles, pages, media (except for the synchronization option) and custom post types. If we need to process WooCommerce products, we need to install thePolylang for WooCommerce plugin to add support for the product.
Batch translation of articles with translated categories
The example below is for articles, but the batch translation tool works the same way for pages, media (except for the synchronization option), and custom article types (such as products).
Suppose you decide to translate an English article into French. As you can see below, my English article has a translated category called "Food" and its French translation is called "Restaurants":
Now to translate this English article into another language, you need to follow these steps:
❶Select the checkbox corresponding to the article,
❷Then select the Batch Translation action, which will open the Batch Translation Metadata box,
❸Then select the language you want to translate into,
❹Select "Copy original text to selected language" or "Synchronize original text with selected language",
Then click the "Submit" button.
After clicking the "Submit" button, a success message will be displayed❻We will get a new French translation of the article!❼Corresponds to Frenchform❽ as shown:
Please note that if you select "Synchronize original text with selected language", the synchronization function is activated for new translations.
2. Batch translation of articles with untranslated classification criteria
In the following example, we'll see that Polylang automatically creates the translation of the categorization if it doesn't already exist. Suppose you decide to translate another English article with untranslated categorization, as shown in the following example:
To translate the article into another language, you need to follow the instructions above. After batch translating the article, you will get a new French translated article and a new French category. In fact, Polylang has instantly created the "News" French translation category as shown below. Please note that you can manually translate the title of this just created category.
The above works the same for media, if the translation doesn't exist, Polylang will create it automatically.
